Modesty guard : ウィキペディア英語版 | Modesty guard
Modesty guards work at the Western Wall, Jerusalem to implement a modest dress code, legally and non-violently. They work for the Ministry of Religious Services, and are usually hired to work during the summer months when tourists show up wearing revealing clothes. ==Responsibilities== The modesty guards only ask women to cover up. They lend scarves to visitors to cover their shoulders or legs if their clothes are too revealing. In the past, modesty guards only asked women to cover up in the prayer area, but this is now required in the entire plaza.〔Hasit, Arie. ("Oppressing Jewish women does not make the Western Wall holy" ). ''Haaretz'', 3 September 2012. Retrieved on 22 August 2014.〕 The modesty guards sometimes have other duties as well, such as crowd-control when an important rabbi visits, or putting religious books on shelves and keeping the prayer area tidy. Guards who work on Saturdays are in charge of asking visitors not to use a camera that day. Modesty guards do not have to be religious, but they must dress modestly. It may be preferred that they be secular, in order that they may work on Saturdays.
